๐Ÿ“… What is the Earnings Calendar?

Companies report their financial results (earnings) every quarter. These reports can cause big price moves โ€” stocks can jump 5-20% on a good report or drop just as much on a bad one.

What the columns mean:

๐Ÿ“Š Expected EPS โ€” Earnings Per Share: the profit the company is expected to generate per share this quarter. Think of it as the value being added to each share on earnings day. If a $100 stock reports $2 EPS (beating the $1.50 expectation), the stock could jump because it earned more value than the market priced in.
๐ŸŒ… BMO โ€” Before Market Open (reported before 9:30 AM ET)
๐ŸŒ™ AMC โ€” After Market Close (reported after 4:00 PM ET)

Why it matters: If a company beats expectations (reports higher EPS than expected), the stock usually goes up. If it misses, it usually drops. Knowing when your holdings report helps you prepare for volatility.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Some traders avoid buying right before earnings due to unpredictability. Others see it as an opportunity.

๐Ÿ˜จ What is the Fear Index?

The Fear Index measures how scared investors are. High fear often means stocks are oversold โ€” historically a good buying opportunity.

Score (0โ€“100):

0โ€“14: Minimal Fear โ€” markets are calm and confident
15โ€“34: Low Fear โ€” slight nervousness, mostly stable
35โ€“54: Moderate Fear โ€” uncertainty building, caution rising
55โ€“74: High Fear โ€” significant worry, possible overreaction
75โ€“100: Extreme Fear โ€” panic mode, often the best time to buy

What drives fear up:

๐Ÿ“ˆ VIX spikes โ€” "fear gauge" rising = more expected volatility
๐Ÿ“‰ More put options โ€” investors buying downside protection
๐Ÿฆ Safe haven demand โ€” money flowing from stocks into treasury bonds
๐Ÿ“Š Declining breadth โ€” more stocks falling than rising

๐Ÿ’ก Warren Buffett: "Be greedy when others are fearful."

๐Ÿค‘ What is the Greed Index?

The Greed Index measures how euphoric and risk-hungry investors are. High greed often means stocks are overbought โ€” a potential warning sign.

Score (0โ€“100):

0โ€“14: Minimal Greed โ€” no risk appetite, very defensive
15โ€“34: Low Greed โ€” cautious positioning
35โ€“54: Moderate Greed โ€” balanced risk-taking
55โ€“74: High Greed โ€” strong bullishness, momentum chasing
75โ€“100: Extreme Greed โ€” euphoria, FOMO, correction risk is high

What drives greed up:

๐Ÿš€ Market momentum โ€” S&P 500 above its 125-day moving average
๐Ÿ“ˆ Stock price strength โ€” many stocks hitting 52-week highs
๐Ÿ’ฐ Junk bond demand โ€” investors taking on riskier debt for yield
๐Ÿ“Š Rising breadth โ€” broad market participation in the rally

๐Ÿ’ก Warren Buffett: "Be fearful when others are greedy."
